High-Level Dissemination Workshop Unveils SIDAMA ECD Baseline Survey Report

Hawassa, SIDAMA —A high-level dissemination workshop was held today, November 17, 2025, in Hawassa to launch a report on SIDAMA Early Childhood Development (ECD) Baseline Survey conducted by the Hawassa University.

The African Center for Early Childhood Development (AfC-ECD) which initiated and financed the baseline survey received technical and financial support from Big Win Philanthropy for the study.

The workshop started with welcoming remarks from Dr. Kebede Worku , AfC-ECD CEO, followed by an opening address by H.E. Ato Beyene Berassa, who underscored the critical role of reliable data in strengthening ECD services.

Researchers from AfC-ECD and the Hawassa University presented a detailed overview of the survey findings, highlighting key achievements, existing gaps, and emerging opportunities within the region’s early childhood development landscape.

A Multisectoral Panel featuring leaders from the Education, Health, as well as the regional State’s Women, Youth, and Social Affairs bureaus emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to improve the outcomes for young children.

The release of the survey report marks an important step forward in evidence-based planning to improve early childhood development in the SIDAMA region.

The event brought together 104 participants, including regional government officials, AfC-ECD leadership and staff, university researchers, and members of the media.

The event concluded with closing remarks, a group photo session, and a networking luncheon event.
