Dr. Patricia Kitsao-Wekulo
Research Scientist, Maternal and Child Health Unit, African Population Health Research Center, Kenya
Dr. Patricia Kitsao-Wekulo has been involved in research on Early Childhood Development (ECD) for many years. While engaged as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Aga Khan University’s Institute for Human Development, she was the Lead Research Consultant on a project which sought to provide for a living model of best practice in early childhood development centers. Through this work, she helped develop an understanding of the factors that contribute to resilience in children growing up in adversity, and provide the framework for a longitudinal study of the influences of ECD programs on human capital formation. As a child development researcher, Dr. Kitsao-Wekulo is interested in the investigation and improvement of various facets of the immediate environment of the child, particularly in the context of sub-Saharan Africa. She is also focused on advancing understanding of how childcare service models can be scaled with quality, as well as uncovering the underlying decision-making around the use and supply of childc
